Cheap and Easy Fun for Kids: Homemade Vet Clinic

When was the last time all of the stuffed animals at your house had a decent check up?

It had been a while at our house since our stuffed animals had a check up so yesterday I set up a homemade vet clinic!

The kids had so much fun with it! They were occupied for HOURS…which is sometimes nice.

Here is how to make a homemade vet clinic:

First, I cut strips of scrap fabric to use as bandages.

Then, I made a highly scientific (and obviously expensive) thermometer out of a craft stick.

I also gave the kids a clean nasal aspirator, two baby hair brushes, and some scrap squares of fabric to use as hospital blankets in case any of their animals needed an overnight stay at the vet.

I let them use my antique kitchen scale and a fabric tape measure so they could get accurate measurements of all of their animals.

They used their magna doodle to take notes and their little play computer to record patient information in the hospital database. ?

Here are the results:

The wolf had some lesions that needed care.

Mickey Mouse was running a fever and had to rest.

Raggedy Ann needed a cast put on her leg and then she had to stay in the hospital for a while. It was touch-and-go for a while because they were worried about her fever.

They even gave me a check up at the vet clinic! Thankfully, it was covered by insurance. They tapped me on the knee with a plastic bowling pen but I drew the line at the “booger sensor” (baby nasal aspirator)!

All the best,
Lindsey
